Dubai, 27 August (H.S.): The International Cricket Council (ICC) has imposed a 15-month ban on United Arab Emirates batter Asif Khan for an anti-doping violation. Asif has accepted the sanction. Testing of his sample found a metabolite of the prohibited substance Mesterolone.

The ban has been backdated to September 8, 2025, the date on which Asif underwent an out-of-competition doping test. His suspension will remain in effect until December 7, 2026.

Asif, who made his international debut in 2022, has represented the United Arab Emirates in 38 One-Day Internationals and 56 T20 Internationals. He admitted to violating Article 2.1 of the ICC Anti-Doping Code.

Asif accepted the proposed sanction under a Case Resolution Agreement reached with the World Anti-Doping Agency and the International Cricket Council, eliminating the need for a formal hearing.

His individual results from September 8, 2025, through the start of his provisional suspension on December 29, 2025, have also been disqualified under the ICC Anti-Doping Code. Consequently, any medals, points, prize money and other awards associated with those results will be forfeited.
