New Delhi, 27 August (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday shared a significant verse from the Rig Veda as the day’s Subhashitam on his official X handle, using the ancient hymn to call for the preservation and transmission of traditions and knowledge to future generations.

The Subhashitam reads: “तन्तुं तन्वन्रजसो भानुमन्विहि ज्योतिष्मतः पथो रक्ष धिया कृतान्। अनुल्बणं वयत जोगुवामपो मनुर्भव जनया दैव्यं जनम्॥”

The verse is from the sixth mantra of Sukta 53 in the 10th Mandala of the Rig Veda. According to the meaning shared in the Prime Minister’s post, “A person should carry forward their traditions and knowledge while performing noble deeds.”

The X post further explains that one should follow a just and enlightened path shaped by wisdom, adopt the virtuous conduct of exemplary people in one’s own life, remain thoughtful and reflective, and contribute to nurturing people endowed with divine virtues.
