New Delhi, 27 August (H.S.):

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address young participants at the Khelo India Dialogue through video conferencing at 11 a.m. today. Youth from across the country will take part in the programme, which aims to provide a common platform for discussions on sports, youth leadership, civic responsibility, volunteering, fitness and nation-building.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the event is being organised under the aegis of Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) to mark National Sports Day. Two colleges from every district across all states and Union territories will participate in the programme. The Prime Minister’s interaction is aligned with his vision of building a fit, disciplined and sports-oriented nation, while placing the aspirations of young people at the heart of the national development agenda.

Following the Khelo India Dialogue, interactions will also be organised at the local level involving young people, volunteers, athletes and public representatives. The initiative will provide youngsters with an opportunity to interact directly with leading Indian sportspersons and medal winners. The youth dialogue will be a key feature of the programme, allowing participants to share their views and ideas.

The dialogue will focus on five key themes: strengthening the sports ecosystem through better facilities and coaching; identifying talent and ensuring long-term athlete development for the 2036 Olympics; nurturing youth leadership through governance platforms and volunteering; empowering young people through civic responsibility and future-ready skills for a developed India; and strengthening a drug-free youth movement through sports and peer networks.
