Bhubaneswar, 27 August (H.S.): An Odia couple residing in Australia has reportedly gone missing in Nepal following devastating floods and landslides that have disrupted normal life and communication across several parts of the country.

The missing couple has been identified as Sandeep Mohapatra and his wife Siddharthi Kumari Sahu, residents of Khordha district. The couple had travelled from Australia to Kathmandu on August 22 for a holiday and sightseeing.

According to information available, the couple’s mobile phones have remained switched off since yesterday. Their last known location was reportedly traced to the vicinity of the Immigration Office in Kathmandu.

The couple has been residing in Australia since 2018. Their disappearance following the natural disaster has triggered concern among their family members, who are anxiously awaiting information about their whereabouts and safety.

Nodal officer Pritish Panda said efforts are underway to trace the couple amid the challenging conditions created by the floods and landslides. Search and rescue teams and authorities are continuing efforts to locate people who remain unaccounted for in the affected areas.
