New Delhi, 27 August (H.S.): Union Minister J.P. Nadda on Thursday met a delegation of youths associated with the August 21 protest seeking reforms in the caste-based reservation system, representing the Central government.

Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda shared details of the meeting on X. He said that, as scheduled following the protest at Jantar Mantar, he held an amicable discussion with Harsh Dubey, Ranbahadur Singh Chauhan, Mrityunjay Pathak and other members of the delegation. He added that the two sides would meet again soon.

The development comes after a movement demanding reforms in caste-based reservation gained momentum among students following the ‘Cockroach Janta Party’ protest at Jantar Mantar. As part of the campaign, a demonstration was held at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on August 21.

The protesters’ demands included linking caste-based reservation with income, limiting the benefit to one member of a family on a one-time basis, and withdrawing the norms recently issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
