Guwahati, 27 August (HS): Assam Land Conservation Minister Ashwini Ray Sarkar on Thursday chaired a high-level review meeting at his office in Dispur to assess the progress of various schemes and projects being implemented by the Land Conservation Department.

The meeting reviewed the current implementation status of projects, incomplete works and issues affecting their timely completion. The minister directed officials to expedite the implementation of departmental schemes and ensure that their benefits reach the public on time.

Sarkar stressed the need for transparency, quality and accountability in the execution of projects, along with proper and effective utilisation of government funds. He cautioned officials against any negligence in the use of public money.

The minister also ordered strict action against contractors who fail to complete works within the stipulated deadlines. He directed the authorities to blacklist contractors, wherever necessary, for failing to discharge their responsibilities or causing unnecessary delays.

The meeting further emphasised accelerating departmental works and ensuring timely completion of all schemes and projects. Sarkar said that ensuring punctuality, transparency and accountability in departmental activities in the public interest remains a key priority of the government.

The Commissioner-Secretary, Secretary and other senior officials of the department were present at the meeting.-----------
