Medinipur, 27 August (H.S.): Police have busted a gang allegedly involved in a series of chain-snatching incidents in Kharagpur city and arrested three persons in connection with the cases. The arrested include one identified as Suraj Kahar, while the other two are minors.

West Midnapore Superintendent of Police Papia Sultana said at a press conference held in Medinipur on Wednesday evening that the arrested accused were allegedly involved in several chain-snatching incidents reported in Kharagpur city.

According to the police, two incidents were reported in May, two in July and another two in August. The incidents allegedly took place at several locations across the city, including SERSA Stadium, Atulmani School, Sanghashree Club, New Traffic and Sai Baba Temple.

The Superintendent of Police said that of the six gold chains allegedly snatched, two were recovered from a jewellery shop, while the remaining four were recovered from the possession of the arrested accused. The owner of the jewellery shop has also been arrested in connection with the case.

Papia Sultana said that no criminal involved in harming people would be able to escape the law. She added that strict action would also be taken against those who assist or facilitate criminal activities.
