New Delhi, 27 August (H.S.): India on Thursday dispatched a second consignment of 37.5 tonnes of humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) supplies, medicines and food packets to disaster-hit Nepal.

External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar said in a post on X that the second flight carrying the relief material had departed for Nepal. “The second flight carrying 37.5 tonnes of HADR supplies, medicines and food packets for Nepal has just departed. India remains in close and continuous contact with the Nepalese authorities. We will continue to extend our full support to the relief efforts,” he said.

The development comes as Nepal continues to grapple with the devastating floods triggered by the Bhote Koshi River in Rasuwa and adjoining areas on Wednesday morning. At least 157 people have died and nearly 700 others remain missing, including foreign nationals and security personnel.

The floods have caused extensive destruction across three districts, damaging homes, vehicles, roads, bridges and other critical infrastructure, while large-scale search, rescue and relief operations remain underway.
