
Guwahati, 27 August (HS): Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya met National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI) Director Dr. Dheer Singh in New Delhi and sought the institute’s expertise to build a modern, technology-driven and farmer-centric dairy sector in Assam.
The Governor emphasised grassroots milk cooperativisation, modern technology, skill development, scientific interventions and stronger market linkages. He requested NDRI experts to assess Assam’s dairy sector and suggest technical measures for strengthening the value chain.
He also proposed visits by NDRI experts to Assam, including Assam Veterinary and Fishery University, and focused skill-development programmes in partnership with the Assam Skill Development Mission to equip rural youth with dairy-related skills and entrepreneurial opportunities.
The Governor expressed hope that NDRI would become a long-term knowledge partner in developing Assam’s dairy ecosystem. Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor SS Meenakshi Sundaram was also present.-----------
