New Delhi, 27 August (H.S.): Global markets are providing mixed cues on Thursday, with Asian equities also witnessing divergent trends. US markets ended the previous session largely flat with marginal losses, although Dow Jones futures were trading firmly higher. European markets also closed mixed in the previous session, while Asian markets were witnessing a similarly uneven trend in early trade.

US markets remained range-bound during the previous session. At the close, Wall Street's major indices ended almost flat with marginal declines. The S&P 500 slipped 0.02 percent to close at 7,675.70, while the Nasdaq declined 0.08 percent to end the session at 26,130.20. Meanwhile, Dow Jones futures were trading 173.35 points, or 0.32 percent, higher at 53,637.23.

European markets also ended the previous session on a mixed note. The FTSE index edged down 0.07 percent to close at 10,878.12. In contrast, the CAC index gained 0.27 percent to finish at 8,462.39, while the DAX advanced 0.08 percent to close at 26,285.96.

Asian markets were also trading mixed on Thursday. Of the nine major Asian markets, six benchmark indices were trading in positive territory, while three were in the red. Gift Nifty was down 0.25 percent at 24,334. The Straits Times Index declined 0.72 percent to 5,680.92, while the Hang Seng Index slipped 113.97 points, or 0.45 percent, to 25,539.

On the other hand, the Nikkei Index was trading 122.84 points, or 0.19 percent, higher at 66,385. The Jakarta Composite Index advanced 0.55 percent to 6,441.16. South Korea's KOSPI posted a sharp rise, gaining 104.58 points, or 1.51 percent, to reach 6,912.79.

The Taiwan Weighted Index was also showing strong momentum, climbing 385.55 points, or 0.83 percent, to 46,218.17. Meanwhile, the Shanghai Composite Index was up 0.60 percent at 3,935.99, while the SET Composite Index was trading 0.57 percent higher at 1,611.07.
