Suryapet, 26 August (H.S.): Six people were killed and several others injured after a private travel bus collided with a stationary container DCM near Dorakunta in Kodad mandal of Telangana's Suryapet district in the early hours of Wednesday.

The accident occurred on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada National Highway when the private bus, carrying passengers from Hyderabad, collided with the container vehicle. The bus was reportedly travelling towards Andhra Pradesh.

According to preliminary information, around 42-43 passengers were travelling in the bus when the accident occurred. The impact was severe, leaving the front portion of the bus badly damaged and trapping several passengers inside.

The deceased include five women and one man.

Police and local authorities reached the spot soon after receiving information and launched rescue operations. The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment. Some of the injured were reported to be in critical condition.

Police have registered a case and begun an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to the accident.

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed deep condolences to the families of those who died in the accident. He directed the Chief Secretary to ensure that the injured receive the best possible medical treatment and instructed officials to closely monitor their condition.

BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao also expressed grief over the deaths and urged the government to ensure proper medical treatment for all those injured.

State BJP president N. Ramchander Rao expressed condolences to the bereaved families and urged the government to provide compensation to the families of the deceased and ensure proper treatment for the injured. He also called for strengthening road safety measures in the state.

Police have shifted the bodies to the mortuary for post-mortem examination. Further details regarding the accident and the condition of the injured are awaited.
