London, 26 August (H.S.): Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes and Manchester City striker Khadija Shaw were named the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Players of the Year in the men’s and women’s categories respectively on Tuesday.

Manchester United captain Fernandes scored nine goals and registered a record 21 assists during the previous season. His outstanding performances helped United secure third place in the top flight. He became only the second Portuguese player to win the prestigious award, following Cristiano Ronaldo, who previously received the honour.

Jamaican striker Khadija Shaw won the award for the second time. She had previously been named PFA Women’s Player of the Year in 2024. Shaw scored 21 goals for Manchester City during the previous season.

Manchester City defender Nico O’Reilly was named Young Player of the Year after an impressive campaign that included a strong showing for England at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Meanwhile, 22-year-old Arsenal striker Olivia Smith won the Women’s Young Player of the Year award for the second consecutive year.

Five players from Premier League champions Arsenal were selected in the PFA Team of the Season.

Forwards: Erling Haaland (Manchester City), Antoine Semenyo (Manchester City), Igor Thiago (Brentford)
