Jalpaiguri, 26 August (H.S.): The Rakhi market has picked up momentum ahead of Raksha Bandhan, with shops at Dinbazar in Jalpaiguri witnessing a steady influx of customers. Along with light-up Rakhis, designs featuring popular cartoon characters are proving particularly attractive to children. People of all age groups are also visiting the markets to choose from a wide variety of Rakhi designs.

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has appealed to people to celebrate the Rakhi festival. Against this backdrop, sellers are hopeful that the Rakhi market will witness strong business this year.

Meanwhile, an Anandachandra College fourth-year student from Jalpaiguri, Liza Das, has drawn attention with her innovative customised chocolates designed especially for Raksha Bandhan gifts.

Liza, a resident of Bosepara in the city, has created chocolates shaped like bats and coats for brothers, while for sisters she has designed chocolates resembling make-up kits, handbags and dresses.

Liza started making such chocolates around a year ago purely as a hobby. She has now gained recognition on social media through her venture, ‘Choco Bloom by Liza’.

Her customised chocolates are available from Rs 100 onwards. Customers purchasing combo boxes of chocolates are also being offered a Rakhi free of cost. For purchases worth Rs 999, a bento cake is being offered as an additional gift.

Alongside her studies, Liza is pursuing her passion with the aim of becoming self-reliant. Her customised chocolates have emerged as an attractive and personalised gifting option for siblings during the Rakhi festival.
