Bijnor, 26 Aug (HS): On the occasion of Rakshabandhan, in a

programme organised at the auditorium of St. Mary's School, Najibabad Road,

Bijnor, the Uttar Pradesh government announced free travel for life to women

aged 60 years and above in all the buses of Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport

Corporation under the Lokmata Ahilyabai Matrishakti Yojana.

Dr. Somendra Tomar, Minister of State (Independent Charge)

for Political Pension, Sainik Welfare and Provincial Armed Constabulary

Department in the State Government said that under the leadership of the Chief

Minister, the golden era of Uttar Pradesh has started from the year 2017. Many

welfare schemes have been implemented for the women power since the year 2017.

The government has worked to preserve the spiritual and cultural heritage.

Women empowerment program has been started through which work is being done to

make the women power self-reliant and self-sufficient. He also mentioned about

free bus travel to women on the occasion of Rakshabandhan and said that the

Yogi government is supporting women in every field.

In the program, State Government Minister Somendra Tomar and

other public representatives presented sweets and sarees to the women on the

occasion of Rakshabandhan on behalf of the State Government.

On this occasion, BJP District President Bhupendra

Chaudhary, Sadar MLA Suchi Chaudhary, District Panchayat Administrator Sakendra

Pratap Singh, Municipal Council Bijnor President Indira Singh, BJP leader

Harjinder Kaur, District Magistrate Jasjit Kaur along with other officials,

public representatives and a large number of women were present.
