New Delhi, 26 August (H.S.): Global markets are sending positive signals on Wednesday, with Wall Street ending the previous session on a strong note and Dow Jones futures also trading higher. European markets closed mixed in the previous session, while Asian equities are broadly witnessing buying interest today.

Positive sentiment remained firm in the US market during the previous session, supported by a decline in crude oil prices and lower bond yields. The favourable backdrop helped Wall Street’s major indices close higher. The S&P 500 climbed 0.32 per cent to finish at 7,677.28 points. The Nasdaq gained 171.11 points, or 0.66 per cent, to close at 26,151.30. Meanwhile, Dow Jones futures were trading 0.05 per cent higher at 53,601.91 points.

European markets traded firmly for most of the previous session but ended on a mixed note after profit booking emerged towards the close. The FTSE index rose 0.29 per cent to finish at 10,886.16 points. The DAX jumped 159.54 points, or 0.61 per cent, to end the session at 26,266.14 points. In contrast, the CAC index surrendered all its gains amid late-session selling and closed 0.16 per cent lower at 8,439.20 points.

Asian markets are broadly witnessing buying interest on Wednesday. Of the nine major Asian indices, eight were trading in positive territory, while one index was witnessing a decline. The Straits Times Index was the only laggard, falling 0.17 per cent to 5,726.05 points.

Meanwhile, GIFT Nifty was trading 0.19 per cent higher at 24,527.50 points. The Jakarta Composite Index gained 0.16 per cent to reach 6,512.06 points.

The KOSPI index was witnessing strong buying momentum, rising 132.11 points, or 1.96 per cent, to trade at 6,874.85 points.

The Taiwan Weighted Index also registered a sharp rise, gaining 598.23 points, or 1.32 per cent, to reach 45,767.69 points. Similarly, the Hang Seng Index advanced 196.90 points, or 0.77 per cent, to 25,708 points.

The Shanghai Composite Index was trading 0.70 per cent higher at 3,916.83 points, while the SET Composite Index climbed 0.68 per cent to 1,606.80 points. The Nikkei Index was also trading higher, gaining 409.57 points, or 0.62 per cent, to reach 66,266 points.
