
Guwahati, 26 August (HS): The Golap Borbora State Institute of Panchayat & Rural Development (GBSIPRD) organised a two-day state-level workshop on regulating construction activities in rural Assam, with special focus on National Highways, State Highways and PWD roads.
Inaugurating the workshop, Panchayat & Rural Development Minister Atul Bora stressed coordinated and scientific planning to ensure safe, sustainable and climate-resilient rural development amid rapid urbanisation and changing land-use patterns.
The workshop discussed a proposed regulatory framework aimed at addressing road safety, future road widening, drainage, pedestrian movement and environmental concerns. Senior officials, engineers, planners, legal experts and representatives of various departments and Panchayati Raj Institutions participated in the deliberations.
The workshop concluded on August 26 with a valedictory session, where key observations and recommendations were noted for further refinement of the proposed framework.----------
