New Delhi, 26 August (H.S.):

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) credited the pension for August to the bank accounts of 4,40,901 pensioners in Kerala on August 26 itself, ahead of the Onam festival. The EPFO also extended its greetings to all its members and pensioners on the occasion of Onam.

According to the Ministry of Labour and Employment, pensions under the Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS), 1995, are generally disbursed towards the end of each month. However, in view of Onam, the EPFO decided to release the pension earlier this month, enabling pensioners and their families to meet essential expenses ahead of the festival.

The pension amount was transferred directly to the bank accounts of pensioners through the Centralised Pension Payment System (CPPS). The system facilitates faster and more convenient disbursement of pension payments.

The EPFO said it has been working continuously to ensure the timely delivery of pension and social security benefits. It is also expanding the use of technology while improving its services with a focus on the convenience and needs of pensioners.
