Wardha, 26 Aug (HS): Sudden early falling of oranges

before full growth is a cause of great concern for the farmers in Karanja of

Wardha District. Initially the farmers were happy as they expected a good

harvest. Unexpected changes in the climatic condition has caused huge losses to

the farmers.

During this season (Mrig) the climatic changes is

likely to affect the yield by 50 to 60 percent. The monsoon took a long break

after initial good rains. The lesser rains weakened the plants, which started

shedding the fruits.

The farmers have demanded immediate survey of the

conditions and expect financial support to the affected farmers.
