Dibrugarh/Sivasagar (Assam), 26 August (HS): Assam Health and Family Welfare Minister Ashok Singhal on Wednesday launched a 60-day statewide HIV awareness campaign in Dibrugarh. The campaign will cover around 3,900 villages and 500 slum areas across 35 districts, along with awareness programmes in 500 schools and 200 colleges. One hundred special camps will also provide free HIV and sexually transmitted infection testing, counselling and treatment.

Singhal later inaugurated a new blood centre at Syukapha Multispeciality Hospital in Demow and a newly constructed building of Karmashree Hiteswar Saikia Sub-Divisional Civil Hospital at Ligiripukhuri in Nazira. He also visited flood-affected Nepalikhuti in Sivasagar and reviewed the situation with affected residents and officials.----------
