
Guwahati, 25 August (HS): Garima Saikia Garg, wife of late singer and cultural icon Zubeen Garg visited Zubin Kshetra and expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for taking steps towards the construction of the memorial complex.
Speaking to the media, Saikia Garg said Zubin Kshetra would be developed in accordance with the aspirations of the people, with facilities including an open stage, museum and library. She said the guard wall of the site is expected to be completed by October.
She also announced that the death anniversary of Zubeen Garg, who remains deeply loved by the people of Assam, will be observed over three days from September 17. The first day will feature an interfaith prayer, while a cultural programme in memory of the singer will be organised on the second day. A Bhaona performance will be held on the concluding day.
Various programmes will be organised to commemorate Zubeen Garg’s life, artistic contributions and enduring legacy, Saikia Garg said.-----------
