Kamrup (Assam), 25 August (HS): A vehicle driver killed after his vehicle fell into a pit and overturned at the Century Ply premises in Palashbari area of Assam’s Kamrup district late Monday night.

The deceased has been identified as Gautam Das. According to preliminary information, excavation work had been carried out at the site during the day. Das was reportedly on night duty and may not have been aware of the pit.

The vehicle fell into the excavated area and overturned, trapping Das underneath. He died in the accident.

Palashbari Police reached the spot and launched an investigation. Police are examining how the vehicle reached the excavation site and whether adequate safety measures and warning signs had been put in place after the digging work.------------
