New Delhi, 25 August (H.S.): The Supreme Court, while hearing a matter concerning offerings made by devotees at the Banke Bihari Temple in Vrindavan, has observed that every penny donated at the temple must be deposited in the Lord’s treasury.
The Supreme Court said that donations should be routed directly into the temple’s account either through its official website or through designated donation boxes.
The court further observed that no person associated with the temple can claim any right over the offerings before they are deposited into the temple treasury. It directed the temple management committee to establish a transparent system for receiving and accounting for offerings.
The objective is to prevent irregularities and ensure that all forms of donations and offerings are properly accounted for. The Supreme Court emphasised that donations made at the temple are intended for the deity.
