
Mumbai, 25 Aug
(HS): Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis clarified that sale of loose
edible oil has not been totally banned. Injustice to customers buoying small
quantity of loose oil will be caused.
The issue was
discussed in the cabinet meeting. The ban by FDA was imposed to prevent
adulteration.
An SOP (Standard
Operating Procedure) has been made to prevent adulteration under the Food
Safety and Standards Act.
The economically
weaker sections buy small quality of loose oil whenever required. The oil
producers and distributors had raised the issue of total ban on selling and buying
loose edible oil.
