Rohtak, 25 August (H.S.): Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, who is serving sentences in sexual assault and murder cases, has once again been released from Sunaria Jail in Rohtak.

According to preliminary information, Ram Rahim has been granted 21 days of furlough. He was released from the jail under tight security on Tuesday morning and left for Sirsa. This marks the 17th time that Gurmeet Ram Rahim has been released from Rohtak's Sunaria Jail on parole or furlough.

Ram Rahim was sent to Sunaria Jail after being convicted in August 2017 in a case involving the sexual exploitation of two female disciples. He was also convicted and sentenced in connection with the murder of journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati.

Two paroles granted earlier this year

Ram Rahim had already been granted parole twice in 2026. He was released for 40 days in January and was subsequently granted 30 days of parole in May. After completing the 30-day parole period granted in May, he returned to Sunaria Jail on June 26.

He has now been released again after being granted 21 days of furlough. Security arrangements were tightened during his release, and he was escorted to Sirsa under police supervision.

His release for the 17th time has once again sparked discussion surrounding the repeated granting of parole and furlough to the Dera Sacha Sauda chief.
