Chandigarh, 25 August (H.S.): Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim, who is serving sentences in cases involving the sexual exploitation of female disciples and the murder of journalist Ram Chandra Chhatrapati, was released from Sunaria Jail once again on Tuesday. He was granted a 21-day furlough and left the jail for Sirsa at around 6:05 am under tight security.With this, Ram Rahim has now been released from Rohtak’s Sunaria Jail for the 17th time on parole or furlough. His repeated releases have previously raised questions among various sections, and the issue has remained a subject of discussion whenever he is granted parole or furlough.Gurmeet Ram Rahim was sent to Sunaria Jail after he was convicted in August 2017 in the case involving the sexual exploitation of female disciples. He was later also convicted in the murder case of journalist Ram Chandra Chhatrapati. The Dera chief is currently serving his sentence at Sunaria Jail.
Granted Parole Twice in 2026Ram Rahim has already been released from jail twice this year. In January, he was granted 40 days of parole, while in May, he received 30 days of parole. After completing his 30-day parole, he returned to Sunaria Jail on June 26.Now, after being granted another 21-day furlough, Ram Rahim has once again been released from prison. Tight security arrangements were made around his release, and he left for Sirsa under police supervision.His release for the 17th time has once again brought his repeated parole and furlough into focus. While his followers have expressed enthusiasm over his release, those who have previously questioned his frequent releases are also closely watching the decision.
