New Delhi, 25 August (H.S.): Global markets are sending weak signals on Tuesday. US markets closed lower in the previous session, while Dow Jones futures were currently trading with a marginal gain. European markets ended mixed in the previous session, while Asian markets were witnessing selling pressure during Tuesday’s trade.

US markets remained under pressure in the previous session amid selling in technology stocks, dragging Wall Street indices lower. The S&P 500 Index closed down 0.28 per cent at 7,652.86 points. Similarly, the Nasdaq fell 200.26 points, or 0.76 per cent, to close at 25,980.19 points. Dow Jones futures were currently trading marginally higher by 0.03 per cent at 53,430.70 points.

European markets ended the previous session on a mixed note. The FTSE Index rose 0.35 per cent to close at 10,854.32 points. In contrast, the CAC Index declined 0.37 per cent to end the session at 8,453.01 points. The DAX Index also slipped 0.11 per cent to close at 26,106.60 points.

Asian markets were under sustained pressure on Tuesday. Of the nine major Asian markets, seven indices were trading in negative territory, while two were holding on to gains. The Nikkei Index was up 252.91 points, or 0.39 per cent, at 65,781 points. The Straits Times Index also gained 0.37 per cent to reach 5,701.64 points.

On the other hand, Gift Nifty was trading 0.11 per cent lower at 24,183.50 points. The Hang Seng Index declined 0.21 per cent to 25,464 points. The Taiwan Weighted Index witnessed a sharper fall, declining 372.08 points, or 0.83 per cent, to 44,390.24 points.

Similarly, the KOSPI Index slipped 0.64 per cent to 6,653.93 points. The Jakarta Composite Index declined 0.37 per cent to 6,501.67 points, while the Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.15 per cent to 3,876.38 points. The SET Composite Index also declined 0.09 per cent to trade at 1,599.64 points.
