Lucknow, 25 Aug (HS): Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national

president Mayawati has announced that the BSP will contest the Punjab Assembly

elections on its own. She stated that alliances and electoral pacts harm her

party. Appealing to her party workers, she urged them to boldly counter all the

tactics of their opponents and prepare for a better result.

The BSP chief held a review meeting on preparations for the

upcoming assembly elections in Punjab at the BSP's central camp office in

Lucknow on Tuesday. The meeting was attended by party officials and workers

from Punjab.

Following the meeting, Mayawati announced that preparations

for the upcoming assembly elections in Punjab, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh

have been intensified. The meeting also decided that the party will field hardworking

and honest candidates. Mayawati stated that the BSP, like in Uttar Pradesh and

Uttarakhand, will contest the Punjab assembly elections on its own strength,

without any alliances or compromises. The primary reason for this is to prevent

the BSP from losing both seats and votes due to electoral alliances. The

party's morale is also to be protected from decline. Apart from this, the BSP

chief has given instructions to prepare for the death anniversary program of

party founder Kanshi Ram on October 9 and make it a success.
