Guwahati, 25 August(HS): The Directorate of Sericulture, Government of Assam, on Tuesday launched the Sericulture Management Information System (MIS), marking a major step towards strengthening digital governance, information management and stakeholder connectivity in the state’s sericulture sector.

The digital platform was formally launched by Assam’s Minister for Handloom, Textiles & Sericulture, Biswajit Daimary. Director of Sericulture Lakhimi Dutta, along with Kaushar J Hilaly, IAS (Retd), Special Secretary, Department of Sports and Youth Welfare; Ankur Bharali, Director of Sports and Youth Welfare; senior ACS officer Kajori Rajkhowa and other officials were present at the event.

The Sericulture MIS has been developed as a unified digital platform covering Eri, Muga, Mulberry and Tasar sericulture. It will connect farmers, Farmer Interest Groups (FIGs), district sericulture offices and the state administration through a common information system.

The system is aimed at ensuring seamless information flow, efficient monitoring and better coordination across Assam’s sericulture ecosystem.
