Amritsar, 25 August (H.S.): Amritsar Rural Police have recovered 10 kg 80 grams of heroin from the Lopoke police station area. A 30 bore pistol was also seized during the operation.According to police, the action was carried out against a cross-border drug trafficking network. Police have named Sajan Arora, a resident of Bheelowal, Vijaypal Singh of Sarai Amanat Khan, and Jashanpreet Singh of Gandivind in the case.During the operation, Jashanpreet Singh was arrested, while efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the other accused. Police are also investigating their alleged role in the drug network.Preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused were allegedly in contact with drug smugglers based in Pakistan. Police suspect that heroin consignments sent across the border through drones or other means were being further distributed by the accused.The police are now working to identify other members linked to the network and trace the entire supply chain.A case has been registered at Lopoke Police Station under relevant sections of the NDPS Act and Arms Act. The arrested accused is being questioned, and police expect to gather important information regarding the cross-border connections, supply routes and other persons involved in the network.Amritsar Rural Police said that strict action against drug and weapon smuggling will continue. The focus of the investigation remains on identifying and arresting all members involved in the network and dismantling the entire operation.
