Lucknow, 24 Aug (HS): On his birthday (August 24), Uttar

Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid respectful respects to the great

revolutionary and freedom warrior Shivaram Hari Rajguru, recognizing his

unrivaled heroism, heroic sacrifice for the motherland, and lifetime commitment

to India's independence.

Shivaram Hari Rajguru was born on August 24, 1908, in Khed (now Rajgurunagar)

in Pune, Maharashtra. He was a key member of the Hindustan Socialist Republican

Association (HSRA) and collaborated with Bhagat Singh and Sukhdev extensively. He

was directly involved in the killing of British police officer John Saunders in

Lahore in 1928, in order to revenge the death of senior leader Lala Lajpat Rai.

On March 23, 1931, at the age of 22, he was killed by hanging with Bhagat Singh

and Sukhdev at Lahore Central Jail.

In a post on X, he mentioned, “On the birth anniversary of

Amar Krantikari, the symbol of indomitable courage and unwavering patriotism,

Shivaram Hari Rajguru, humble tributes. His supreme sacrifice for the freedom

of the motherland will forever remain an inspiration for Indian youth. The

nation will always remain indebted to his sacrifice, valor, and dedication.”
