New Delhi, 24 August (H.S.): The Central Government has lifted, with immediate effect, restrictions on the export of wheat and wheat products, including durum wheat. The government has also permitted the export of wheat flour and other products such as maida and semolina.

In a notification issued on Monday, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) announced the removal of restrictions on the export of wheat and its products, including flour, maida, semolina and durum wheat. The notification stated that the export policy for wheat has been changed from “restricted” to “free” with immediate effect.

The decision has been taken in view of the country’s comfortable wheat stocks and record production, according to the notification.

The government has also allowed the export of wheat flour, maida and semolina. In February this year, the Centre had permitted limited quantities of wheat to be exported.

The export policy for wheat flour and related products covered under HS Code 11010000 has also been changed from “restricted” to “free” with immediate effect.
