Thoubal (Manipur), 24 August (HS): Security forces have arrested two alleged active cadres of the KCP(PWG) in separate operations in Thoubal district of Manipur, officials said on Monday.

On August 23, security forces arrested Buyamayum Ayub Khan, 30, an alleged extortionist and active cadre of KCP(PWG), from the Lilong Tairen Makhong area under Lilong Police Station. He is a resident of Hiyangthang Tarahei Konjil.

In another operation earlier, a joint team of Thoubal CDO and 11 Assam Rifles launched a search operation in the Lilong Ushoipoki area based on credible intelligence. During the operation, suspected KCP(PWG) self styled captain Thiyam Boycha Singh alias Balin, 28, a resident of Bishnupur Ward No. 8, was arrested.

During questioning, Singh allegedly revealed that he was part of the team involved in the ambush on the Commanding Officer of 46 Assam Rifles and six others at Behiang in Churachandpur district on November 13, 2021.

According to officials, Singh is listed as A-3 in a case investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and had been declared an absconder.----------
