Several leaders, including Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, paid heartfelt tributes to former Union minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arun Jaitley on his death anniversary on Monday. On the occasion, leaders also paid homage to revolutionary freedom fighter Shivram Hari Rajguru on his birth anniversary and remembered his contribution to India’s struggle for independence.

Recalling Arun Jaitley, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said his personality was a symbol of exceptional talent, foresight and an unwavering commitment to democratic values. He said Jaitley served the nation in public life through his impressive oratory, profound scholarship and administrative acumen.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said Jaitley was an accomplished legal expert, outstanding orator and able administrator. He played an important role in communicating government policies to the people through effective dialogue, Shah said. He added that Jaitley made significant contributions to the implementation of several key government policies and that his enduring legacy would continue to inspire leaders of future generations.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said Arun Jaitley had been a friend and mentor to many. He said Jaitley’s wisdom, warmth and dedication to public service continued to inspire people even today.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said Jaitley was well versed in subjects such as the Constitution and law and was a capable administrator and outstanding parliamentarian. His deep understanding of politics and policy matters, foresight and logical approach would always remain inspirational, Singh said. He added that Jaitley’s dedication to the national interest and his invaluable contribution to public life would always be remembered.

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari paid his respects to BJP leader and former Union minister, Padma Vibhushan Arun Jaitley, on his death anniversary.

Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh said Jaitley’s unparalleled contribution to strengthening the country’s economic framework, implementing landmark reforms such as the Goods and Services Tax (GST), and strengthening the organisation would always remain unforgettable.
