New Delhi, 24 August (H.S.): Minister of State for Commerce and Industry and Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasada will undertake an official visit to the Kingdom of Morocco from August 24 to 25. During the visit, the two sides are expected to discuss measures to further diversify bilateral trade and expand market-access opportunities.
According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Jitin Prasada will co-chair the seventh session of the India-Morocco Joint Commission with his Moroccan counterpart, Omar Hejira, who is also the Minister of State for Foreign Trade under Morocco’s Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The Joint Commission meeting will provide an opportunity to review existing areas of bilateral economic and commercial cooperation and work towards further strengthening and broadening mutually beneficial ties. Discussions are expected to cover a wide range of sectors, including trade and market access, cooperation in fertiliser production and supply, investment, industrial cooperation, customs, agriculture and food security, pharmaceuticals and healthcare, energy and mining, renewable energy, digital transformation, transport and logistics, AYUSH, tourism, education and skills development.
According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Prasada will also hold bilateral and high-level meetings with senior Moroccan leaders during the visit. He will participate in the India-Morocco Joint Business Forum and engage with the business community to identify new opportunities for trade, investment, partnerships and joint ventures.
Prasada is also scheduled to interact with business leaders in Rabat as part of his visit.
India and Morocco will mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2027, giving added significance to the ministerial visit. The visit is expected to provide an opportunity to further deepen the longstanding partnership between the two countries.
It is also expected to strengthen the institutional framework for India-Morocco economic cooperation and provide fresh momentum to bilateral trade, investment, industrial partnerships and business-to-business ties.
