Hooghly, 24 August (H.S.): West Bengal Minister of State Bhaskar Bhattacharya inspected around 15 acres of vacant government land near Rishra Police Station on Monday. The land has reportedly remained unused for a long period.

The minister reached Rishra Police Station on Monday morning, where he held a meeting with officials from various government departments, including the BLA. He later inspected the entire stretch of land from the rooftop of the police station and issued necessary directions to the concerned officials.

During the inspection, the minister directed officials to mark the boundaries of the land by installing bamboo poles. He said that the approximately 15-acre government property has remained vacant for a considerable period and added that the government would take the land under its protection within the next two to three days.

According to the minister, once the land is brought under government control, plans will be prepared for its utilisation in the public interest. Various possibilities, including the development of a medical college and a stadium, are being considered for the site.

The minister said the government’s priority is to secure the land and utilise it for the welfare of the people. Administrative work in this direction has already been expedited, he added.
