Jammu, 24 August (H.S.): A meeting of Jammu Kashmir Govt Pharmacists Association, Jammu Province, was held at the office of JK Medical Employees Federation (JKMEF), DHS Complex Jammu under the chairmanship of Sushil Sudan alongwith Bharat Bhushan Bhagat, President Govt Pharmacists Association Jammu Province and S Jaswinder Singh, President (JKMEF).

The meet discussed the demands of Govt Pharmacists, which include implementation of Pharmacy Council of India regulation No; 388/2025/PCI dated;-08-06-2026 at the earliest; timely conduct of Departmental Promotion Committee; release of two and half days salary with arrears in favour of all those employees who are attending duties on Sundays and Gazetted Holidays; restoration of Registered Medical Practitioner (RMP) in favour of retired Pharmacists.

The meet reiterated its demand for discontinuation of the Medical Assistant course from all Govt as well as Private Institutions as the nomenclature of Medical Assistant has been changed to Pharmacist vide Govt order No; 803HME of 1993 dated;-11-10-1993. This needs to be done in the best interest of the respective students as they will not be eligible for PCI registration under section 32(C) of Pharmacy Act 1948, explained Sushil Sudan.

Requesting CMO Doda and all Block Medical officers of District Doda to release the 2 ½ days salary for all those eligible health employees who are rendering roaster duties, the meet warned that any deviation over the legitimate right of employees may lead to a strong protest in District Doda. The meet also discussed the arrangements for the celebration of World Pharmacists day 2026.

During the meet, Kamaljeet Singh was unanimously declared as President of Block R S Pura and K Tarun Sharma as President (GPA) of Block Chowki Choura, who will also hold the charge of Block President of JKMEF in Chowki Choura. Ashwani Kumar has been declared as Vice President of Block Akhnoor.
