Pune, 24 Aug (HS): Senior Marathi language and

grammar expert Dr Yasmin Sheikh passed away on Monday in Pune due to old age.

She was 101. Dr Sheikh worked on standard Marathi language and preservation of

the language.

Dr Sheikh was a teacher for 34 years at SIES College

in Mumbai and taught grammar to IAS aspirants for ten years. She was editor for

Balbharati books and played important role in ‘Working Grammar’ book. She was

also advisor of magazine ‘Antarnad’ Her contribution was recognised by awarding

Dr Ashok Kelkar award.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and

Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar have condoled the death of Dr Yasmin

Sheikh.
