New Delhi, 24 August (H.S.): The Delhi High Court has issued notices to media commentator Abhijit Iyer-Mitra, news platforms LawBeat and Jaipur Dialogues, the Sunday Guardian, and certain social media accounts over a petition alleging the public disclosure of the residential address of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) spokesperson Saurav Das. Justice Sachin Datta directed that the matter be listed for further hearing on September 14.

Saurav Das has filed a petition against the respondents, alleging a violation of his privacy and seeking compensation of Rs 2 lakh. The petition alleges that the respondents attempted to infringe upon his privacy by disclosing his residential address through their respective accounts.

The plea also seeks directions to the respondents to remove videos and posts uploaded by them that reveal or refer to his residential address.

Das stated that he has been living in a rented house in Greater Kailash-I since 2025. According to the petition, representatives of The Pamphlet allegedly entered the premises without authorisation, recorded video footage of the interiors of his residence and shared it on social media platform X on August 5. The video allegedly clearly revealed his residential address and was viewed by more than two million people.

The petition further alleges that Abhijit Iyer-Mitra, in an article published on the LawBeat website, incorrectly identified the name of Das’s neighbour and claimed that the house carried a monthly rent of Rs 7 lakh.

Das said he lodged a complaint with the police on August 5, but no action was taken. Instead, he alleged, additional videos were subsequently uploaded.

The High Court’s notice seeks responses from the respondents to Das’s allegations concerning the alleged disclosure of his residential address and violation of his privacy.
