Prayagraj, 24 Aug (HS): The City Congress Committee staged a

protest on Monday afternoon at the Dharna Sthal near Patthar Girja against UP

Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana for allegedly disrespecting the National Anthem

during a programme in Unnao by stepping down from the stage while it was being

played. Partymen led by City Congress President Fuzail Hashmi, staged a sit-in

and raised slogans such as “Modi-Yogi Murdabad” and “Dismiss Satish Mahana.”

Addressing the gathering, Congress leaders said that Mahana had committed a

cognizable offence by lowering the dignity of a constitutional office, and that

the incident had hurt the sentiments of the people of the country.

Congress workers also submitted a complaint to the Inspector

at Civil Lines Police Station, addressed to the Police Commissioner,

Commissionerate Prayagraj, demanding that an FIR be registered against Satish

Mahana in connection with the incident.
