Chandigarh, 24 August (H.S.): Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Monday condoled the untimely demise of budding Kabaddi player Gurjit Singh Toot and shared the grief of his bereaved family. The Chief Minister met the family of the deceased player at his native village Toot in Ferozepur and expressed profound grief over the loss of Punjab’s promising sporting talent.

Expressing his condolences to the bereaved family, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The untimely demise of Gurjit Singh Toot is an irreparable loss for his family as well as Punjab’s sporting fraternity. In this hour of grief, I stand firmly with the bereaved family and assure them of every possible support from the State Government.”

The Chief Minister said that Gurjit Singh Toot had made a valuable contribution to Kabaddi and his dedication to the sport would continue to inspire the younger generation. “To immortalize Gurjit Singh Toot’s contribution to Kabaddi and keep his memory alive, a magnificent sports stadium will be constructed in his native village Toot in Ferozepur. This will remain a lasting tribute to his dedication to the sport,” he said.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann also announced that the State Government would provide a government job to the wife of the deceased player. He reiterated that the Punjab Government would extend fulsome support to the bereaved family during this difficult time.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The contribution of this illustrious son of Punjab will always remain alive in the hearts of Kabaddi players and sports lovers. His dedication to the sport will continue to inspire our youth.”

The Chief Minister prayed to the Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give strength and courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
