
Sivasagar (Assam), 24 August (HS): The Assam Agriculture Department has decided to distribute two lakh betel nut and coconut saplings among farmers affected by the recent floods in Sivasagar and Charaideo districts.
Agriculture Minister Pijush Hazarika urged farmers to consider cultivating rabi crops after harvesting their paddy to make effective use of their agricultural land and recover from flood-related losses.
The minister also said that the government is laying emphasis on promoting fruit cultivation among farmers as part of efforts to strengthen agricultural activities and improve their income.------------
