Kokrajhar (Assam), 24 August (HS): Assam Police seized around 2,050 kg of ganja and arrested a truck driver and his co-driver during an operation at the Srirampur check post along the Assam-West Bengal border in Gossaigaon subdivision police said today.

According to police sources, the ganja was being transported in truck number UP-54BT-7674 and had been concealed beneath bamboo in the vehicle. During a search, police recovered 203 packets containing the contraband, weighing approximately 2,050 kg.

The arrested persons have been identified as Ramlakshan Rajbhar and Manoj Chauhan, both residents of Bhira in Uttar Pradesh's Mau district.

Preliminary interrogation revealed that the consignment was allegedly being transported from Tezpur to Muzaffarpur in Bihar. The seized ganja is estimated to be worth several crores of rupees in the market.

Police have seized the truck and the contraband and launched an investigation to trace other members of the alleged drug trafficking network.----------
