Guwahati, 23 August (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Sunday that the state remains vigilant against illegal infiltration and will continue its strict measures to prevent unauthorised entry into India.
In a social media post, the Chief Minister said there was no place in Assam for suspicious entrants. He stated that six people who had allegedly entered India illegally were identified in South Salmara district last night, their entry was stopped and they were pushed back to the neighbouring country.
Although the Chief Minister did not name the neighbouring country, South Salmara shares an international border with Bangladesh.
Sarma said the message to those attempting illegal entry was clear: they should not try to enter Assam or Indian territory unlawfully, as the government’s strict and proactive campaign against infiltration would continue.----------
