Fazilka, 23 August (H.S.): The Asafwala War Memorial Committee, in coordination with the Indian Army, organised the ‘Rakhi Sarhad Ke Naam’ event at the Asafwala War Memorial in Fazilka on August 23.

The programme was aimed at strengthening civil-military camaraderie and reinforcing the enduring bond between the Armed Forces and the people of the border region.

Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria attended the event as the Chief Guest. Lt Gen Shamsher Singh Virk, GOC, 10 Corps, along with senior military and civil dignitaries, also graced the occasion.

Women from nearby villages and around 1,000 girls from local schools tied rakhis on the wrists of nearly 800 Army personnel. The gesture symbolised affection, respect and gratitude towards soldiers serving the nation.

The event also highlighted the deep emotional connection and mutual trust between the Armed Forces and the people living in the border areas of Fazilka.

Organised under the spirit of “One Rakhi, One Bond, One Nation,” the celebration conveyed a strong message of unity and national solidarity. It underlined that soldiers guarding the country’s borders and citizens remain connected through a shared bond of trust, respect and patriotism.
