New Delhi, 23 August (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday morning extended greetings on National Space Day, urging the nation to dream bigger, foster greater innovation and push the boundaries of exploration.

In a post on X, PM Modi said, “Let us dream even bigger. Innovate more and push new frontiers...”

Following the successful landing of the Vikram lander, Prime Minister Modi had announced August 23 as National Space Day during his visit to the headquarters of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in Bengaluru on August 26, 2023.

On August 23, 2023, India achieved a historic milestone with the successful soft landing of Chandrayaan-3 near the lunar south pole. With the achievement, India became the fourth country in the world to successfully land a spacecraft on the Moon and the first to reach the region near the lunar south pole.

The Vikram lander also deployed the Pragyan rover on the lunar surface to conduct scientific studies and gather data about the Moon. Modi had said that the findings from the historic mission would benefit humanity in the years ahead.

ISRO, in a message issued on Sunday, invited citizens to join the nation in observing National Space Day and reaffirm their commitment to making India a leading space power.

The space agency said the occasion was an opportunity to celebrate India’s achievements in space exploration while renewing the country’s resolve to advance its capabilities and reach new frontiers in space science and technology.
