
New Delhi, 23 August (H.S.):
Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will visit Japan from August 24 to 27, travelling to Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka with India’s largest-ever business delegation to the country. More than 200 business leaders representing sectors including manufacturing, semiconductors, clean energy, steel, automobiles, financial services, healthcare and start-ups will accompany him.
According to the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Goyal will meet the leadership of major Japanese industrial groups and companies in Tokyo. He will also participate in a roundtable with the Japan Business Federation (Keidanren). Special sessions will be organised on semiconductors, artificial intelligence, start-ups and foreign investment.
Goyal will hold bilateral talks with his Japanese counterpart, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Ryosei Akazawa. He is also scheduled to meet senior members of the Japanese Parliament and government during his visit.
In Nagoya, Goyal will participate in a roadshow with the Central Japan Economic Federation (Chukeiren) and the Nagoya Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He will also hold discussions with investors from the automobile and steel sectors.
The minister’s visit will conclude in Osaka with investor and business roadshows, where he is expected to meet representatives of leading Japanese companies from the electronics, industrial and consumer sectors.
Japan has long been a trusted partner of India and has played an important role in sectors such as automobiles, steel, electronics, financial services and infrastructure. The visit is expected to provide fresh momentum to bilateral trade and investment ties while opening new opportunities for cooperation in advanced manufacturing and next-generation industries.
The engagement is also expected to support India’s objectives of strengthening domestic capabilities and advancing the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat.
