New Delhi, 23 August (H.S.):

The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), in collaboration with Cultus Education and Amazon Web Services (AWS), has launched a nationwide cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) skilling initiative aimed at preparing young people in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities for the jobs of the future.

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship said the programme will provide 150,000 young people with foundational knowledge of cloud computing and AI. Of these, 10,000 participants will receive advanced training through AWS programmes and other digital learning content.

The training will be delivered entirely online, with the initiative aimed at providing participants with recognised certification and connecting them with employment opportunities.

Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhary said access to opportunities under the vision of a developed India should not depend on geographical location or social background. He said preparing young people for the jobs of the future remains a key priority.

Rani Burchmore, APJC Lead at AWS, said the company is helping bring emerging talent into the workforce while enabling organisations to gain a competitive advantage through skilled professionals.

Nalin Singh, Group Managing Director of Cultus Education, said effective skilling should ultimately translate into confidence, recognised certification and meaningful career opportunities.

The initiative will conclude with a national hackathon, during which participants will showcase solutions developed using cloud and AI technologies. NSDC Chief Operating Officer Prashant Sinha was also present at the launch event.
