Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah and several other leaders extended greetings to the people on Sunday on the occasion of National Space Day.

Om Birla said in a post on X, “From the Moon to the Sun, from space stations to new technologies in space, India’s space journey has today become a story of self-reliance, innovation and new capabilities. Greetings to our scientists associated with space science and to every Indian on National Space Day!”

Amit Shah said the historic milestone reflected the success of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making India a leading space power. He said the achievement had laid an inspiring foundation for the country’s youth to reach new heights in the exploration of space and civilisation.

Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr Jitendra Singh described the occasion as a moment that placed India among the world’s leading spacefaring nations. He said the remarkable achievement of Indian scientists, supported by Prime Minister Modi’s progressive vision, would continue to inspire generations. He called for celebrating the country’s scientists, innovators and the unwavering spirit behind the vision of a developed India.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said the country was celebrating India’s extraordinary journey in space, from its early missions to Chandrayaan and beyond. He described the achievements as a tribute to the talent, perseverance and courage of Indian scientists, engineers and innovators. He expressed hope that their accomplishments would inspire curiosity among young Indians and encourage the next generation to explore new frontiers.

Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda said the occasion honoured the spirit of exploration that had taken India to the Moon’s southern polar region. He described Chandrayaan-3 as a testament to the vision, hard work and perseverance of Indian scientists. He called for collective efforts to build a self-reliant and globally leading India in space under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, while empowering young people to aim higher, dream bigger and shape the future among the stars.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Nitin Nabin said India’s achievements in space represented the country’s scientific capabilities as well as the vision, dedication and innovative spirit of its scientists. He said that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, India was continuously setting new benchmarks in space science and technology, advancing the vision of a developed India and strengthening its position among the world’s leading space powers.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said India’s remarkable space journey, from the historic success of the Chandrayaan missions to the ambitious Gaganyaan programme, reflected the country’s scientific excellence, technological capabilities and unwavering spirit of innovation.

Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan recalled that on August 23, 2023, India created history in space research by successfully achieving the soft landing of Chandrayaan-3 in the Moon’s southern polar region. He said the historic accomplishment was the proud outcome of the exceptional talent, outstanding expertise and tireless efforts of the country’s scientists. He urged citizens to collectively resolve to take India’s distinguished journey in space science and research forward.

Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said India had established its identity through science and was now poised to reach new heights. He said the country had emerged as an indomitable force in space and continued to set its sights on new frontiers.
