New Delhi, 23 August (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said India’s resolve to expand its presence in space is driven by the pride of the Tricolour and the dreams of 1.4 billion Indians.
On the occasion of National Space Day,PM Modi said in a video message posted on X that India was steadily expanding its presence in the global space order and moving into a new era of growth and transformation.
Referring to India’s goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047, the Prime Minister said the country had collectively taken a pledge to achieve the ambitious target and that the space sector would play a major role in turning that resolve into reality.
He particularly praised the contribution of the younger generation, saying that Gen Z engineers, designers and scientists were developing new technologies and working in fields that would have been difficult to imagine only a few years ago.
Whether in propulsion systems, composite materials or satellite platforms, Indian youth are now working on cutting-edge technologies and helping expand the country’s capabilities in space, Modi said.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the growing role of private companies and startups in India’s space ecosystem. He said Indian private-sector space talent was establishing a distinct identity globally and that the country’s space sector was increasingly becoming an attractive destination for international investors.
PM Modi said the countdown to a rocket launch had the power to inspire millions of children. He recalled how children who fly paper aeroplanes at home could one day aspire to become aerospace engineers or scientists and contribute to India’s space programme.
He said India’s expanding space capabilities were not merely about technological achievements but also about inspiring the next generation to dream bigger and encouraging young Indians to explore new frontiers.
