Varanasi, 23 Aug (HS): Culture and Tourism Minister of the

Government of India, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, attended the last day of the 56th

annual convention of the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Association of

India (FHRAI) being held at Hotel Taj Ganges, Nadesar, Varanasi district, Uttar

Pradesh on Sunday.

He urged the tourism sector to move forward under the

guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Currently, the tourism sector

contributes only 6 percent to the national GDP. He said, We will take it

to 10 percent. The hotel industry must understand its responsibility in taking

India forward. This is not an ordinary industry, but an industry that works

towards nation-building.

Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat

further stated that he has been in public life for over 35 years. During his

public life, he has had numerous opportunities to attend conferences like this.

When he worked on the border, he would attend border conferences. As a student,

he would attend student conferences to speak. From that experience, he knows

one thing, and he can responsibly say, keeping people awake during the

post-lunch session is a significant challenge. The large number of people who

have gathered here demonstrates that this is a purposeful event. Hoteliers have

worked tirelessly to strengthen India's economy. It is thanks to their hard

work that India has reached the fourth position in the global economy.
